The Salish Eagle is making its way to B.C. but not before a stop in the Canary Islands for fuel & provisions. This is the second of three new ferries soon to go into service in B.C. is now crossing the Atlantic Ocean en route to the Panama Canal.
The corporation will take final acceptance and ownership of the dual-fuel ship, capable of running on diesel or liquefied natural gas, after an inspection when it reaches B.C. sometime late next month or in early April.
The Salish Orca, is already undergoing sea and dock trials around Georgia Strait and is expected to go into service on the Comox-Powell River route this spring. The third of the low-emission ferries is still under construction in Poland.
