Saanich Police carried out a dramatic rescue this (Monday) morning -- well, sort of.
Sgt. Jereme Leslie and a colleague were in the back parking lot of the detachment when they noticed an agitated duck pacing around a storm grate.
As he went to investigate Leslie heard ducklings quacking:
" I could hear them. They were pretty frantic down below. They were looking up and making a whole lot of noise and they were moving back and forth pretty quickly. So I just managed to reach down and lift up the storm grate and then pick them up and put them back onto the street. Then they were quickly on their way trying to catch up to mom."
Leslie says mom and 3 ducklings quickly waddled away towards Swan Lake. Leslie's colleagues tweeted video of the rescue.
