The District of Saanich is renaming one of its parks to honour the late Vic Derman.
Christmas Hill Park will now be Vic Derman Park.
The longtime councillor, CRD Director and environment advocate passed away in March at the age of 72.
He sat on various committees which were mostly focused on water conservation, active transportation and sustainability. It was this commitment to sustainability that led to council selecting Christmas Hill Park as the place to memorialize their friend and colleague.
Christmas Hill Park is a 3.29 hectare park next to and west of Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary.
The name change and dedication ceremony will take place sometime in July with a date not yet set.
