Saanich Police along with Saanich Fire are investigating a series of three fires over the weekend they say were deliberately set.
The first fire was reported at Friday night around 9pm next to Staples on Tolmie Avenue. A chair had been lit on fire between the building and a row of bushes. Thankfully staff from Staples noticed the fire and rapidly extinguished it before it damaged anything else.
The second and third fires were set in dumpters just before 4am on Saturday. One was behind Save-on-Foods on Blanshard Street and the other across the street at 894 Vernon Avenue. Both of these fires were put out by Saanich Fire, resulting in damage to the dumpsters but not to any of the surrounding area.
Investigators are looking for anyone with information on who may have set these fires to contact the Saanich Police, or Crime Stoppers.
