Saanich police have uncovered a bicycle "chop shop". After executing a search warrant at a property in the 400 block of Dupplin Rd. investigators found what they describe as "a massive quantity of bikes, scooters, bike parts and accessories" valued at over $50,000.
A 49 year old man and a 51 year old man were arrested. Meantime Acting Sgt Jereme Leslie says work is underway to identify the owners of the bikes and bike parts He is asking members of the public to check out the pphotographs posted on the Saanich Police Facebook page.
"We're really hoping that people go to our Facebook page, take a look at the photos that are on our Facebook page. And we're hoping that people from the Greater Victoria cycling community are able to see the photos, maybe recognize some of the property, and help us get that property back to the rightful owners."
Police are recommending the two suspects be charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. They will appear in court in late December.
