The District of Saanich has filed for an injunction in British Columbia Supreme Court, requiring the tent city campers in Regina Park to leave immediately.
The injuction sites fire hazards and the negative impact on the local residential and business community.
Two earlier attempts by the District of Saanich and one by the province, only appears to have bolstered the number of campers in the area beside Hwy One near Uptown Mall.
Saanich mayor Richard Atwell says about 95 people are living in 80 tents onsite.
Atwell admits council is frustrated and the situation strained - but they're taking the proper steps:
"The fire commissioner has the ability to empty out the park if it reaches a danger level, that's ultimately what happened at the courthouse lawn in Victoria."
Atwell admits some campers are using the sanitation trailer and gear lockers to store their belongings during the day, and return at night to shelter.
Meantime, a live stream of the tent city is on Youtube. The stream went live about four days ago.
It is unclear if the tent city campers are aware they're being monitored.
