Some new numbers may bolster complaints across greater Victoria, that it's getting more and more difficult to make ends meet.
New numbers from Statistics Canada shows Victoria had the second highest inflation rate in December among major Canadian cities.
At 3.2 per cent, Victoria was second only to Iqaluit, Nunavut at 3.5 per cent.
Vancouver had the third highest cost of living -- 3.1 per cent increase in December.
BC led the provinces with a 3 per cent jump. Ontario was second at 2.3.
Canada's overall annual inflation rate accelerated to two per cent last month.
The latest consumer price index reports Canadians paid just over 28 percent more last month for air transportation -- mostly due to higher travel prices during the holidays -- and nearly 15 percent more for fresh vegetables.
Inflation was also up last month due to a 7.5 per cent boost in mortgage interest costs, a 3.8 per cent increase in restaurant bills and 5.1 per cent rise in passenger vehicle insurance premiums.
