A public funeral and procession will be held on Saturday, June 24th to honour Victoria's 31st Fire Chief.
Doug Angrove lost his battle with cancer on May 12th. He devoted 34 years of his career to the Fire Service in British Columbia, eight with the Victoria Fire Department.
Local and out-of-town uniformed emergency responders will be involved in the procession along with the Victoria Fire Department's uniformed personnel, an Honour Guard and firefighting equipment.
The procession will begin at 1pm Saturday from the parking lot on the corner of Lyall Street and Canteen Road, and will move east on Lyall Street to the Archie Browning Sports Centre curling rink for a 2:00 service.
Victoria police will conduct a rolling street closure while the procession is underway. Public seating will be available on a first-come basis at the curling rink.
The Victoria Fire Department's "Team Doug" will be participating in the Ride to Conquer Cancer from Vancouver to Seattle this August. All the money raised will go directly towards cancer research at the BC Cancer Foundation.
