The province says today's opening of a turn lane marks a major milestone in the West Shore Parkway project.
Langford mayor Stew Young says the opening of a second left-hand turn lane from the Trans-Canada Highway onto West Shore Parkway means better access for local residents.
One left-hand lane was already open at the intersection but the route was so commonly used that traffic would occasionally back up far enough to block northbound traffic.
The work is part of an estimated $22-million dollar project to connect the West Shore Parkway by three-and-a-half kilometers from the TCH to Sooke Road. Completion is expected sometime in 2018.
