Premier-designate John Horgan has confirmed more members of his leadership team as the NDP's prepares to be sworn in one week.
Among those confirmed today are: Donna Sanford, a Senior Policy Analyst at the Climate Action Secretariat who will move to a new role as Executive Director of the Confidence and Supply Agreement Secretariat. That's a newly created office responsible for delivering on the agreement made between the B.C. New Democrat government and the B.C. Green caucus.
Speaking with reporters today Premier-designate Horgan says the office will ensure the minority government works:
" That's why we entered into the agreement and that's why we're putting in place a secretariat to make sure that not just the Green caucus, but also the Liberal caucus also has access to information about how decisions are being made.
Horgan says his experience as a member of the opposition is that the Liberals were not always forthcoming with information, and he wants to reverse that.
Also, Sage Aaron takes on the role of Director of Communications in the Premier's Office. She is currently Director of Communications for MoveUP.
And Kate Van Meer-Mass will assume new duties as Director of Operations in the Premier's Office, with duties including tour planning, scheduling, and other leadership responsibilities.
The Premier-Designate also confirmed Jen Holmwood will take on the role of Deputy-Director of Communications in the Premier's Office. Sheena McConnell will serve as the Premier's Press Secretary, and Marie Della Mattia will serve as Special Advisor to the Premier. All three held similar roles for the Leader of the Opposition.
Meantime Premier Christy Clark has shuffled her senior staff as the Liberals' prepare to move to the back benches of the BC Legislature.
Among those Clark is keeping is Nick Koolsbergen, who becomes her opposition chief of staff.
Koolsbergen was brought on as Executive Director of Communications for the BC Liberals in January last year. Before that he was Stephen Harper's director of issues management, and once made news headlines for co-writing a memo instructing government staff create an "enemy" list for incoming ministers. His name was one of two at the bottom of the memo.
In a release Clark calls Koolsbergen a strategic thinker, adding the party will benefit from his experience as a staff member in opposition in Ontario politics.
Also confirmed is Jessica Wolford who will be Deputy Chief of Staff and Stephen Smart takes on Executive Director of Communications and Issues Management.
