A man is in custody in connection to a break and enter attempt in James Bay near the elementary school.
Victoria Police says a citizen tip led to the arrest in a chase where a man tried to elude capture for hours in the late morning on Friday.
Authorities put the James Bay Elementary school in lock and hold while the search was on for a man and a woman in connection to the B&E according to the Vic-PD Twitter account.
"Officers are thanking members of the James Bay community today after their assistance led to the arrest of a hiding suspect wanted for a break and enter to a nearby business after a multi-hour search," Victoria Police said in a statement.
CTV news reporting the man arrested is facing multiple charges surrounding stolen property and also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
There is no update on if the woman has been found yet; she is described as white, between the ages of 20-25 years, 5'8" w shoulder length dirty blonde hair, possibly carrying several bags.
The elementary school has been returned to normal.
