The Saanich Police and Fire Departments are investigating a blaze at a residence on Kent Street that police say sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.
A host of fire fighters responded to the 600 block of Kent Street at just before 4:00am on Sunday morning.
“We arrived to have extensive fire on the back of the structure and it kind of engulfed upper and lower floors on the backside,” said Saanich Fire Captain Rob Paton. “We did a rapid mostly exterior attack around the back.”
Police says six people were in the house and all were able to escape with two people taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"It's unclear if they were trying to extinguish the fire but there were burns on one of their arms," said Paton.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Paton says there's an estimated $200,000 in damages.
