The Victoria Joint rescue team and first responders were called to Clover point this afternoon after a couple of paddleboarders ran into trouble when the winds picked up.
A male and a female on separate paddle boards were both blown into the waters off Clover point Tuesday afternoon. Neither were wearing floatation devices or wetsuits. VicPD's Constable Steve Twardy says they were very lucky. "They were completely unequipped for the weather had he gone under the water he wouldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes."
The woman managed to swim to safety and was helped by Danny McCoy who was passing by. "The wind pushed the board away and the board was gone. Thank God everybody's safe."
The Coastguard says winds at the time were around 28 knots.
4 vessels and a helicopter were called in before the 2 made it back to dry land.
The pair were cold and wet but unharmed.
