If you've had a few drinks you'd best not drive -- VicPD have kicked off their annual crackdown on impaired driving Saturday.
Vic PD say they will be at dedicated checkpoints in Victoria and Esquimalt for the next
Constable Matt Rutherford tells CFAX 1070 so far everything has gone smoothly but they remind drivers that it's not just booze their looking for. “We remind drivers that we have officers that are trained to check for Marijuana as well. It’s unfortunate but every year we find people who make the choice to drink and drive, if we stop them we’ll take them off the road.”
34 drivers were removed from Victoria Roads by VicPD in October alone. ICBC reports that impaired driving remains one of the top three contributing factors for fatal crashes in the province.
