Oak Bay's biggest event of the year, the Tea Party, is in full swing this weekend.
On Friday night, at Willows Park by Willows Beach, the rides and games opened up to the public, with a live band playing 60's rock hits.
The fair continued on Saturday, with a parade, opening ceremony, live music, and a full on fair with rides like the ferris wheel and the zipper, carnival games like skeeball and ring toss, and fair treats like popcorn and cotton candy.
The Tea Party continues on Sunday, with the big draw being the Air Show with skydivers at 2 o'clock, and the Mayors Floating Teacup Race at 3.
The airshow will feature the CH 148 CYCLONE form Squadron 443, and the CP 140 AURORA from Squadron 407 of the Royal Canadian Air Force. There will also be John and Richard Mrazek from Delta, BC performing aerobatic manouvers. John will be flying his beloved Harvard the "Pussycat II", and Richard will be in a YAK 18T.
In the Tea Cup race, participants will sit in big, tippy, tea cup shaped row boats, and race in the waters of Willows Beach. This year, Oak Bay Mayor Kevin Murdoch, along with 3 other new mayors from CRD municipalities, will take to the sea.
Also on Sunday, there is a bathtub race at 1 oclock, a Ladies' Nail Driving Competition, multiple musical acts, and a raffle.
Parking will be limited to the neighbouring streets, because the parking lot at Willows Beach will be closed. Drivers are asked to drive slow and carefully, as there will be lots of families with kids who will be running around, burning off the energy from the sugary treats like mini donuts and cotton candy.
