After a string of bike thefts from Oak Bay High, the school's police Liaison officer decided to set up a sting. Now a 45-year-old man is in custody.
Constable Markus Lueder used a police mountain bike as bait near Oak Bay High School Thursday morning. After watching the bike for several hours the officer saw a man approach, open his backpack, and begin cutting the lock.
The man was arrested, and faces multiple charges -- including theft under $5-thousand, and possession of tools used for break ins, and possession of stolen property -- including credit cards.
