Got some Sunday shopping planned in downtown Victoria this weekend? Don't forget to plug the meter.
Sunday pay parking on streets begins on May 5.
The new rules mean pay parking will be in effect at on-street meters daily from 9am to 6pm - seven days a week.
Downtown Victoria Business Associations Executive Director Jeff Bray says meter monitors will go easy on drivers for the next four weekends, leaving information phamplets instead of tickets on vehicles. They'll begin issuing fines starting June 2.
Sunday on-street parking at downtown meters will have a four-hour time limit, compared to a 90-minute limit Monday to Saturday.
Parking in the city's five parkades will continue to be free on Sundays and holidays evenings and overnight from 6 p.m. until 8 a.m.
City councillors plan to funnel the more than $500,000 in revenue expected, to free bus passes for local kids under 18.
