Billing itself as a "grassroots electoral organization" a new slate of candidates wanting to shake up Victoria City Council has officially tossed their collective hats into the ring.
NewCouncil.ca says they share a vision for Victoria, and a commitment to replace the current local government with a "competent and responsive Mayor and Council".
Mayoral candidate Stephen Hammond points to the recent statue debacle, saying residents are tired of not being listened to.
A lawyer by trade, Hammond describes himself as someone who has stood up for those suffering from injustice -- and now wants to stand up for his city.
He pledges that in the first week of being elected NewCouncil.ca will call an independent third party audit on the Johnson Street Bridge fiasco.
NewCouncil.ca's council candidates are realtor Gary Alberts, retired BC Transit manager Randie Johal, and communications professional Andrew Reeve.
The slate also pledges to take the best advice, be open to ideas from across the political spectrum, and deliver on policies that ensure Victoria is a clean, safe and inviting city for local residents, families, and visitors.
