The man convicted of killing 2 people and injuring 2 others in the April 2014 shooting at the Western Forest Products mill in Nanaimo is going to jail for life, with no possibility of parole for 25 years for each charge against him.
50 year-old Kevin Addison was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and two of attempted murder for shooting Michael Lunn and Fred McEachern to death, and injuring Tony Sudar and Earl Kelly.
The court handed down the sentence this afternoon after listening to victim impact statements.
Addison's lawyer had argued for a reduction in the charges to manslaughter maintaining Addison was suffering from severe depression and did not plan the shootings.
But the Crown argued successfully that Addison planned the attack to get revenge after being laid off, and took pains to hide his weapon.
