Victoria Police have confirmed in a written statement to CFAX news that a police officer's notebook was misplaced and recovered in February.
The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner was informed and Police are currently notifying all persons whose names or information appear in the notebook.
The force apologizes for the any breach of privacy.
Victoria Police have also done a risk assessment, and have no reason to believe there is risk to any person whose information appeared in the notebook.
They are actively researching a digital solution to paper notebooks in hopes of reducing the risk and impact of misplacement in the future.
