Metchosin Council is not waiting for a Provincial review to determine if a referendum is required on a boundary adjustment. City Council has voted to go ahead with their own referendum on the matter in January.
The issue involves a complicated land swap, boundary adjustment, and tax sharing agreement affecting Metchosin, Langford and the Beecher Bay First Nation.
In a release, Mayor John Ranns says "residents have always had a say in important issues for the community and this is no exception." Adding, " This is how we do things in Metchosin".
