Family, friends and colleagues of a West Shore Mountie killed in the line of duty in April 2016 have come together to arrange a memorial run in her honour.
32 year old Constable Sarah Beckett died when her police cruiser was broadsided by a speeding pickup truck.
The memorial run will celebrate the life of the wife, mother and RCMP officer, and will raise funds for a scholarship to aid students pursuing a career in law enforcement.
The 5K family run and walk is set for Saturday, April 13th at the Belmont Secondary School from 8am to 1pm.
Two similar events will be held the same day in communities Beckett served before coming to the West Shore -- Port McNeill and Gold River/Tahsis.
More than 700 people have registered for the event, among them will be Beckett's husband Brad Aschenbrenner and their sons.
If you'd like to participate without running or walking, there will be a BBQ by donation.
