The flagpole from the top of the original Memorial Arena in downtown Victoria has a new home.
The flagpole has been refurbished and re-installed at Royal Oak Burial Park adjacent to the Cross of Sacrifice at the entrance to the cemetery.
The pole's original home was Memorial Arena, a building constructed in 1949 to honour Canadian soldiers killed during World War II, and had been salvaged and stored after the arena was demolished in 2003.
The flagpole has had an additional 3 metres added and was installed at Royal Oak Burial Park October 31st. The goal was to have it in place for Remembrance Day.
