Construction on the McKenzie Interchange project is in full operation and has been given the go-ahead to proceed 24 hours a day until July.
That is causing some concerns for residents living in the immediate area.
Janelle Erwin, Deputy Director, South Coast Region, BC Ministry of Transportation tells CFAX what's being done to address traffic and noise problems.
"We're trying to limit our lane closures during the daytime hours which means there is lots of activity off the lanes during the daytime, but it does means some work is happening in the evening. In terms of some of that noisier work, rock blasting--we're not allowing that to happen after 10 p.m.--drilling is only allowed between 3 to 9 p.m. during weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and taking a rest on Sundays."
Retaining walls have been set up, and Erwin says blasting has commenced, but only during restricted times.
