The city of Victoria is moving forward with the idea of connecting people who have no housing with homeowners willing to billet them.
Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps is moving forward with her idea of billeting homeless people with Victoria homeowners. Helps says she got an email from a woman named Daphne asking if the Mayor had made any progress because Daphne is working but can't find affordable accommodations. "Daphne can email me and once we get this first focus group out of the way and we get some suggestions we'll go from there."
Helps has started a focus group to collect data and make recommendations on the best way to move forward with her idea.
"Homeowners responded more quickly than those living in their vehicles so that's a really good sign."
Mayor Helps says she can be reached at mayor@victoria.ca.
