Although cannabis is now legal to possess, grow, and smoke, there are limits as to where that can happen.
Smoking of any product is not permitted in many places, and marijuana is going to fall into the same category as vaporizers, cigarettes, cigars, and other tobacco products.
That means smoking will not be allowed in parks, on school grounds, or on health board properties.
Smoking is also not allowed on sports fields, skating rinks, swimming pools, and skate parks, nor in any stands or patios around these areas.
Smoking marijuana is not allowed in cars or boats, even when it's in park, and can result in a ticket. However, it is permitted in a camper or trailer, as well as below deck or in a cabin on a boat.
The same Clean Air Bylaw that applies to smoking tobacco and vaporizers now applies to marijuana. That means no smoking of any product is not allowed with 7 metres of a doorway, window or air intake, as well as 7 meters from bus stops, passenger loading/unloading zones, and ferry docks. It also means no smoking on patios, on the job site, or in the workplace.
Anywhere that has a sign saying "No Smoking" now applies to tobacco, vaporizers, and marijuana.
