Central Saanich Police have a suspect in custody, after a BC Transit bus driver was assaulted and robbed on a route through Central Saanich on Monday night
Police say the alleged assailant was riding a bus on Keating Cross Road around 8 Monday night.
Sergeant Paul Brailey says when the bus came to a stop, the man approached the driver, hit him on the head, took his wallet, and fled on foot.
"Luckily for us, there was a number of riders on the bus who witnessed the attack and the driver was able to make an emergency call," said Brailey."Members of the Central Saanich Police service were able to locate the suspect within about 15 minutes."
Jordan Tahouney,33, was found with the bus driver's wallet and a knife in his possession, and was taken into custody. He's been charged with robbery, and remanded in custody for two weeks until his next court date.
Central Saanich Police continue to investigate this case, they are reviewing surveillance footage from the bus, and speaking with witnesses. They ask anyone who hasn't spoken to them and has knowledge of this incident call them at 250-652-4441.
