Several charges are being recommended against a 52-year-old man after a Cowichan Valley woman was beaten and held against her will.
North Cowichan R-C-M-P say a man has been arrested and is facing charges of forcible confinement and aggravated assault. This after a Cowichan Valley woman was beaten and held against her will.
Corporal Krista Hobday says the 52-year-old was arrested last night, just over 24 hours after officers responded to a call about a woman suffering serious facial injuries. "All we're able to say at this point is the woman was held against her will and we're investigating that allegation."
A man who only wanted to be identified as John says he helped the woman but when he first came in contact with her he thought she was wearing a mask.
"It was a female and she asked for help, she looked scared and her face was all smashed up."
The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment. police say the victim and attacker knew each other and the public is not at risk.
