Work on the Malahat is on track to wrap up later this summer.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure confirms the project is on schedule for completion. Paving is expected to wrap up in ate August, with new paint markings, intersection concrete islands, and median and roadside barrier installations immediately thereafter.
Meantime, ministry staff have been tasked with reviewing potential alternatives to the Malahat including the potential for a bridge, and other options that consider all modes of transportation -- including both passenger-only and car ferry services.
Staff are currently determining the detailed scope and schedule of the review.
