A full-scale strike by operators and staff of BC Transit's handyDART bus service for people with disabilities has been delayed by an employer application to the BC Labour Relations Board - meaning there will be no job action on Monday.
Unifor Local 333 President Ben Williams says BC Transit's contracted service provider First Canada applied for an amendment to an essential services designation plan previously agreed on by both the employer and the union.
WIlliams warns if a tentative agreement on a new contract or significant progress isn't made, the union will re-issue 72-hour strike notice as soon as possible, as early as Monday.
That means a strike could still happen later next week.
