A security expert from Royal Roads University says the royal couple's trip to BC won't be cheap, and local taxpayers will be absorbing some of the cost.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their two children will arrive in the province on Saturday for an eight day visit that will also include a trip to Yukon.
Head of the human security and peace building program at Royal Roads Ken Christie says the cost of the visit will likely hit seven figures.
"I'm imagining it's well over a million. The province and the taxpayers have to pick up some of the bill, so there's some concern about that. It depends where you stand -- whether you're pro-monarchist or not. But I know that I've talked to some people who say, 'Really? We're paying for that? That's quite incredible.'"
Christie says the royal couple's itineraries for local appearances likely won't be released publicly for security purposes.
