Sharing your life with a pet is a blessing, and this weekend, pet owners will have a chance to play that forward.
This Sunday morning at Fairfield United Church, pet owners can bring their furry, feathered or scaly friend to church and have them blessed.
A special animal blessing service will be held to celebrate the kinship we have with all living things.
Reverend Beth Walker says blessing animals is a tradition that is more than an expression of goodwill and caring.
"People will often share why their pet is so meaningful to them. Sometimes they'll say, you know, he stayed with me when I had cancer and I really appreciated that, or this cat was with my mother when she passed."
The animal blessing takes place Sunday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Fairfield United Church, 1303 Fairfield Road.
