There are still more questions than answers a day after 2 senior officials at the B.C. Legislature were escorted out of the building by police and place on administrative leave.
Two of the highest ranking adminstrators at the legislature -- Head legislative clerk Craig James and Sergeant-At-Arms Gary Lenz -- are under criminal investigation following a tip.
Two special investigators were appointed to assist RCMP in the case.
But Dermod Travis of Intergrity BC says the nature of the investigation has not been released -- and James himself told reporters he doesn't know what the allegationsare against him.
Travis says the way the case has been handled isn't fair to the public or the accused.
Meantime Alan Mullen, the special advisor to house speaker Darryl Plecas, told reporters today the Office of the Speaker won't be making further statements as the case is in the hands of the BC RCMP.
B.C. Attorney General David Eby also avoided answering reporter's questions, adding no government employee would be able to comment due to the active, ongoing investigation.
As the sergeant-at-arms Lenz receives $218-thousand a year. His job is to ensure protection of the house and its members during sessions.
As the legislature clerk James gets $347-thousand annually. It's one of the highest paid administrative poisitions. He's is responsible for direction and administration of the legislative assembly.
A deputy clerk and deputy sergeant-at-arms have been appointed to step in until things are resolved.
