If you have any pre-bagged veggies in your fridge you'll want to check the Canada Food Inspection Agency's website for details on recall due to listeria contamination.
Although there've been no reported illnesses associated with eating the products, you are encouraged to throw out the product, or return it to the store where you bought them.
Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell bad, but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
The recall was triggered by a similar recall in the U.S. and the industry in Canada decided to issue a recall as well, which the CFIA has posted. The recall applies to Ontario and Quebec - and may affect stores across the country. The agency is trying to confirm that, but urges caution.
There is a wide range of products involved, including Mann's blends, Western Family, and 2 Compliments products -- Cauliettes Chop (14 oz) and the Compliments Vegetable Platter.
