There's a new Sheriff in Langford and it's the Mayor.
Langford Mayor Stew Young is credited with foiling a would-be candy thief at the Western Foods on Goldstream avenue this week.
The Mayor was driving by the store when he saw a couple of employees looking for a man they believe stole some snacks.
"I drove down and parked my car and we tried to chase the guy down and we ended up holding him for the police to come and deal with."
The Mayor's message to criminals is not in my town. "We're trying to get tough on crime and when it happens right in front of me, of course, the first thing your gonna do is go out there and try and apprehend somebody."
Young says this type of theft won't be tolerated on his watch.
