It seems Langford didn't make the cut.
This morning, E-commerce giant Amazon came out with its short list of cities in the running for a second North American headquarters.
Langford and 11 other Canadian cities made bids for the headquarters, which would come with an expected $5-billion-dollar investment in facilities plus the hiring of about 50,000 employees.
Out of the Canadian cities, only Toronto made the short list of 20 contenders. The other 19 locations are all in the U.S. and include New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Denver and Nashville.
Amazon says it received 238 applications and narrowing it down to 20 was very tough.
Langford mayor Stew Young pitched his community based on advantages such as being more affordable than other major cities on the list.
