An 'old school' send off is being planned for the old Johnson Street Bridge later this month.
Both the old JSB and the new span will close for the afternoon on Saturday March 31st, for a community picnic, live music and party.
Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps said the city is searching for a vintage vehicle to be the first to cross the new bridge.
“We’re trying to find a model 1924 Ford, because the old bridge was built 94 years ago,” Helps said. “And someone, some person will just happen to be the first one who drives across.”
The picnic on the outgoing Johnson Street Bridge will take place from noon 5pm on March 31st.
