The 20th annual Bike to Work Week begins Monday.
The event celebrates regular commuter cyclists and also encourages new people to take up the activity.
The Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society spokeperson Courtenay Nielsen says the event has grown from 50 teams and 500 participants in 1997, to over 600 teams and 7000 participants last year.
"This year were getting more into the realm of Bike to School Week. School age children haven't been involved as much over past years. So we're making an extra effort to be more inclusive with the younger generation."
If you're just dusting off your skill along with your seat, the Capital Region District has it's fair share of hills and tricky traffic areas to negotiate.
Remember to always wear an approved helmet, use bike lanes wherever possible and don't cycle on sidewalks.
The Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society does offer bike courses -- from theory to a guided road ride -- for cyclists of all ages and skill levels.
