Vancouver Island Health has declared its first outbreak in a long-term care facility in Port Alberni.
It's at the Tsawaayuss Rainbow Gardens, a not-for-profit facility operated by WestCoast Native Health Care Society.
A news release from Island Health says one staff member has tested positive, but no residents are showing symptoms.
The staff member is self-isolating at home, and the facility is now closed to admissions, transfers and visitors.
The following measures have been proactively implemented at the site:
Island Health says they will have additional presence at the site to assess any further actions required, to support the facility and answer questions from staff, residents and family members.
