A 31 year old West Shore man will begin his walk from Nanaimo to Esquimalt Tuesday to raise funds for Boys & Girls Club of Greater Victoria.
What makes this fundraiser more interesting is Ryan Thirlwall will be wearing a pink tutu.
Thirlwall and his team begin their 125km -29 hour walk, throughout the night and over the Malahat, to raise awareness and funds for programs that support youth mental health. Thirlwall says when he was young street youth and struggling with addictions issues he was introduced to the support of the Boys & Girls Club. He says through the organization's Turnabout Program he was launched on a new path.
Thirlwall hopes his Tutu Walk for Hope will lead some youth and children to look to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria for help and inspire policy makers to fund similar programs.
The public is invited to join in for the last 5km on Wednesday, at the Mayfair Mall parking lot, roughly around 9:30AM and walking to Boys and Girls Club of Greater Victoria in Esquimalt.
All donations can be made directly to Boys & Girls Club of Greater Victoria.
