RCMP have a 22 year old man in custody following the death of a woman on Salt Spring Island Wednesday.
Neighbours reported some sort of stand-off at a duplex on Maliview Drive, north of Ganges, in the morning. At noon members of the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit arrived and cordoned off the home with crime scene tape. The woman's body was found inside.
RCMP say the victim and the man in custody knew each other - but the exact nature of their relationship has not been released. The cause of death has also not been released, RCMP only say that foul play is suspected.
Salt Spring RCMP, Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service are investigating.
