Are you noticing more bats around your house or property?
Now is the time when you'll notice more bat activity, or find them on the ground or roosting in unusual locations.
Mandy Kellner, biologist and coordinator with the BC Community Bat Program says the young pups are honing their flying skills over the summer month and sometimes they don't 'stick the landing.'
If you find a bat - alive or dead - use gloves if you need to handle it.
There is a very low chance that bats in BC are infected with rabies - but it's not worth the risk.
The upside? Bats are excellent at helping to control insect populations.

The program is also looking for reports of mortalities at bat colonies. If you have found multiple dead bats in a human structure such as a bat box, outbuilding or attic, report
