A man who was using a fake name and working as a registered nurse in Victoria while evading U-S police has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.
Victoria police say the collection of child porn discovered was among the most extensive collections their investigation has ever seen.
David Stallcup entered a guilty plea in a Victoria courtroom on January 18. He'd been using the name David Robert while in Canada.
VicPD started investigating Stallcup in mid-2014. The next year, a search warrant was executed at his home in the 700-block of Fisgard. 775 videos and 27-thousand images, all containing child porn, were seized.
An arrest warrant was issued. Three months later, police learned Stallcup was in an Oregon jail, and that he'd been evading U-S authorities for 14 years, travelling from Colorado to Alaska to Montana to the Northwest Territories and then to Victoria. According to newspaper the Oregonian, Stallcup was serving time in Portland for making false statements in a passport application in 1998.
Due to the seriousness of the offences here, Stallcup was extradited back to Victoria last November. He remains in custody pending sentencing. His next court date is set for February 9.
