Victoria firefighters were called out to deal with smoke coming from a heritage home Wednesday morning in Fernwood.
Flames could be seen shooting from the steeple of the home, on Balmoral and Fernwood roads about 9:30 a.m.
Five fire trucks and more than 20 firefighters rushed to the scene following a report of smoke pouring from the roof. Crews cut a hole in the roof to attack it.
The cause has not been determined yet, but it was contained to the attic area. However, there is sigtnificant water damage to the lower floors.
It's too early to say what sparked the blaze. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.
