Conservative MP and public safety critic Tony Clement says he remains angered and disgusted at news convicted murderer Kelly Ellard has become pregnant behind bars after being allowed a conjugal visit by her penpal, a federal convict on parole.
Ellard, 33, is serving a life sentence for the brutal beating and drowning of 14 year old Reena Virk in 1997 in Victoria. Her 41 year old boyfriend, Darwin Dorozan, is back in prison for violating his parole.
Clement says Ellard should certainly not have been allowed a conjugal visit with a parolee:
"Once this whole situation was discovered it was considered a violation of his parole so he's back in the slammer. And so clearly he's, I think under most normal conditions, would not be seen as a person who one would entrust with this child anyway. But now clearly he's out of bounds."
Clement says there is now an infant to worry about, and calls the whole thing is a "gong show".
Clement was speaking with CFAX 1070's Pamela McCall.
