For the second time in two years, a Vancouver Island elk has got its antlers tangled in debris.
Last year he picked up the nickname "line-dancer" after getting his antlers tangled in rope, this year it's an inner tube.
"Tuber" as he's being called now has been spotted dragging his inner tube around Youbou. "Because of his location and his behaviour, I'm not surprised it happened again."
BC Conservation's Scott Norris is hopeful they won't have to tranquilize the elk and untangle its antlers like they did last year.
"This particular elk was darted last year because at the same time last year he had a tarp and ropes wrapped around his neck and head. At that point it was impeding his ability feed, he couldn't see very well."
Norris says mating season is here and young bulls often show aggression by beating bushes with their antlers. Which is likely how Tuber ended up in another mess this year.
Officials and animal safety groups are keeping a close eye on Tuber."
So far the extra baggage doesn't seem to have slowed him down too bad.
