Starting next year visitors arriving in Victoria via the Ogden Point cruise terminal will fin a fleet of "greener" buses awaiting them. The Harbour Authority confirms a new partnership between the Wilson's Group and CVS Tours to bring in the new, quieter, lower emission buses. The new joint venture will run under the banner of "Pacific Northwest Transportation Services".
The Harbour Authority says the new eco-friendly service allows the company will provide exclusive dispatch and cruise shuttle services at the terminal, and will supply buses for excursion tours. Earlier this year the authority introduction North America's first purpose-built fully electric double decker bus.
Ogden Point is Canada's busiest cruise ship port-of-call, welcoming 239 ships from all major cruise lines in 2017. More than 590,000 Victoria visitors arrived on cruise ships this year.
With the growth of cruise tourism in Victoria the Harbour Authority says it's working to decrease the impact on adjacent communities.
