As more people move into the downtown core, pressure is mounting to lessen noise pollution.
The jarring beeping that trucks emit as a safety precaution when they're in reverse, is under the scrutiny of two Victoria city councillors.
More employers across B.C. are replacing the conventional, beeping back up alarm with a "broadband" or "white noise" back up alarm.
Victoria city councillor Margaret Lucas say she's receiving emails from residents looking for some peace and quiet.
"The University of Victoria has transferred their whole fleet of maintenance vehicles over to another type of sound. Whistler and Delta have also done it. We can learn from others; we're not reinventing the wheel."
Lucas and fellow city councillor CharlayneThorton-Joe have put a motion forward, asking city staff to submit a report on the options of implementing something similar.
