The city of Victoria is considering a deer management strategy.
A staff report going before council this week shows a list of steps the city can take to find out how much of problem the deer are, a step it has yet to take like neighbouring municipalities in Esquimalt, Oak Bay, and Central Saanich.
Studies authored by the CRD and the provincial government suggest that deer-human conflicts are on the rise but a jurisdictional question of who is responsible remains a question mark.
There is no current data of exactly how many deer-related conflicts there are in the city of Victoria but the staff has heard complaints from residents.
A committee of council will talk it over this week.
