Notice has been served on owners of derelict boats anchored in Victoria's Gorge Waterway.
The City applied for an injunction to remove the squatting boats last week. Bylaw officers were out on the waterway Friday serving notice of the filing to 14 different vessels.
The City says it has to finish serving all the respondents who then have 21 days to respond before applications for a hearings can be set. Councillor Jeff Young says he knows this has been a long process and it's likely not over, "I suspect some of them will never be moved and the city , at our own expense will have to be responsible for moving them which will be an expensive process."
The eviction notice comes after years of work by the city to deal with the longstanding issue of boats dropping anchor, in the sensitive urban waterway.
